Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Chart Playback is a practice tool for trading decisions and review using historical charts.

Scope

This Policy applies to information handling on the Chart Playback official site, web app, member features, optional surveys, announcement-email preferences, and inquiries by email.

Information collected

The official site does not currently provide sign-in, contact forms, or payments, and does not provide a function to enter and send names, email addresses, or similar information.

When you contact us by email, we collect the sender email address, inquiry content, and information voluntarily included in the email.

The web app provides a login-free guest experience and free-member features. Free members authenticate with Google or email OTP and can load, save, replace, and delete user-prepared CSV files. CSV files and practice data are stored in user-scoped browser storage on the browser currently in use and are not cloud-saved or synchronized across devices.

For free-member features, information necessary for authentication and membership may be processed or stored on the server, including an authentication-service user identifier, email address, authentication method, information related to account creation, sign-in, and sessions, plan, and the versions and timestamps of agreement to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

We may offer an optional survey during or after free-member registration. If you respond, we may collect answers such as markets or asset classes of interest, primary trading or practice style, experience using charts for decisions or practice, and how you learned about Chart Playback. Survey answers are linked to the authenticated account and stored on the server. The survey is optional, and free-member features remain available without answering it.

We may offer a setting to receive emails from Chart Playback about new features or services. If you expressly opt in, we store information needed to manage that preference, such as the current subscription status, timestamps of consent or unsubscribe actions, the version of the consent wording, and preference-change history. The email address used for Chart Playback authentication is used as the delivery address.

Browser storage

The web app may use localStorage and IndexedDB to store settings for display and controls, chart position, decision-making practice records, orders, positions, profit and loss, trade logs, notes, drawings, paint-practice history, saved images, user-loaded CSV files, and similar items in the browser on the device in use.

CSV content and this practice data are not currently saved to the operator's servers or synchronized through the cloud with another device or browser. Authentication information, membership information, legal-consent records, optional survey answers, and announcement-email preferences that are processed or stored on the server are handled within the scope described under “Information collected” above.

Browser-stored data may be lost through deletion of browser data, device or browser changes, malfunctions, or other circumstances. Please do not enter more personal or confidential information than necessary in notes or free-text fields.

Purposes of use

Information collected through inquiries is used to reply to inquiries, investigate issues, conduct necessary service operations, and respond to security matters.

Authentication and membership information is used for authentication, management of sign-in state and membership access, management of agreement to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, account management, prevention of misuse, and security responses.

Information stored in the browser by the web app is used to apply display and control settings and to continue decision-making practice, records, and review using historical charts on the device.

Optional survey answers are used to aggregate and analyze usage tendencies, improve Chart Playback features and usability, and consider future features and service offerings.

Information related to announcement emails is used, when a user has expressly opted in, to send information about new features and Chart Playback services, manage subscription preferences, and manage records of consent and unsubscribe actions.

Collected information is used within the scope of the purposes above. If purposes change, necessary notice or consent will be obtained in accordance with law.

Optional surveys and announcement emails

Answering an optional survey and receiving announcement emails are not conditions for using free-member features. Optional surveys can be skipped without answering.

If announcement-email preferences are offered, the default is OFF and the setting is turned ON only when the user expressly opts in. Consent to announcement emails is handled separately from agreement to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and separately from authentication emails or one-time codes needed to sign in.

After announcement-email delivery begins, users will be able to change the setting from the account screen and through an unsubscribe method provided in the email. Unsubscribing from announcement emails does not affect authentication emails required to provide the service, such as one-time codes used for sign-in.

Provision to third parties and external services

Personal information collected is not provided to third parties without the person's consent except where required by law.

External services are used for service delivery, authentication, processing or storage of membership information, and receiving or forwarding email, and information may be handled to the extent necessary for those services.

If optional survey answers or announcement-email preferences are stored on the server, external cloud services may be used to the extent necessary for that storage and processing. If announcement emails are sent, the email address and other information necessary for delivery may be handled by an email-delivery service.

If payments or other new external services are introduced, or if there is a material change in the external services used or how information is handled, this page will be updated as necessary.

The Chart Playback official site and web app use Google Analytics to understand use and improve the service.

The Google tag is loaded only when the user expressly allows analytics. It is not loaded for Google Analytics before permission or when refused. Refusing does not affect use of the official site or web app, and the choice can later be changed from each screen's analytics settings.

Choices are stored separately in browser storage for the official site and web app. A choice on one may not automatically apply to the other.

Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to collect pages viewed, access time, browser and device information, IP address and other communication information, and identifiers. Collected information is sent to Google and handled under Google's policies.

The service does not intentionally send names, email addresses, account identifiers, authentication information, data loaded by users, instrument or price data, orders, positions, trade history, profit and loss, notes, drawings, other practice content, optional survey answers, or announcement-email preferences to Google Analytics. GA4 User-ID and custom activity events are not used.

Google Analytics is not currently used for advertising delivery or personalized advertising. Google Ads, advertising features, and advertising User-ID are not used.

When analytics is changed to refusal, the service attempts to delete Google Analytics-related cookies. It may not be possible to delete every cookie depending on browser and cookie settings. Changing to refusal does not automatically delete information sent before the change.

Analytics can be refused in each screen's settings, and cookies can also be limited in browser settings. You can also use Google's Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

See Google's Privacy Policy for its information handling.

Even before permission or after refusal, external services used to deliver the service may process IP addresses, User-Agent, and other communication information.

If new cookie-using functions, analytics, cloud storage, payments, affiliate links, or other functions or external services are introduced, this Policy will be reviewed according to the implementation.

Data management

Information collected through inquiries is managed to the extent necessary for inquiry responses, issue investigation, necessary service operations, and security responses.

Authentication and membership information is managed to the extent necessary to provide and manage member features and accounts. If an account is deleted, optional survey answers linked to that account are deleted unless retention is required by law or for necessary operational records.

The current announcement-email preference and history of consent and unsubscribe actions are managed to the extent necessary to apply preference changes, confirm consent status, and comply with applicable law. Records necessary for those purposes may be retained for a period of time after unsubscribing or account deletion.

Information no longer necessary for the purposes of use is deleted by an appropriate method unless retention is necessary by law or as a record of response.

Specific retention periods vary according to the type of information, purpose of use, legal requirements, and response status.

Contact and policy changes

For privacy questions or requests to confirm, correct, or delete collected information, contact us through the Contact page or at contact@chartplayback.com.

We will respond according to applicable law and the status of information held.

This Policy may be reviewed in response to changes in service content or operations.

If this Policy changes, the change and effective date will be announced on the official site. If a change materially affects users' rights or how their information is handled, explicit re-consent will be requested where necessary.
