Chart Playback Data Tool Chrome Extension Terms of Use

Terms consent version: 2026-10-01
Effective date: 2026-10-01
Last updated: 2026-10-01

Article 1 Applicability and Relationship with the Web App

These Terms of Use apply to all users of the Chart Playback Data Tool Chrome extension (the "Extension").

The Extension may be used whether or not you use the Chart Playback web app. A Chart Playback account or login is not required.

The Extension and the Chart Playback web app are related services, but are provided as separate services.

Article 2 Purpose of the Extension

The Extension is intended to retrieve stock-price and related data for the symbols and date ranges specified by users and save the data as CSV files on users' devices.

The Extension assists with retrieving stock-price data and is not intended for any of the following:

  • Investment advice or trading recommendations
  • Forecasts of future prices or price movements
  • Guarantees of profits or other results
  • Recommendations of particular symbols

Any decisions and actions using retrieved data are the responsibility of the user.

Article 3 Eligible Users and Scope of Use

The Extension may be used by individuals who agree to these Terms of Use, including those who do not use the Chart Playback web app. A Chart Playback account or login is not required.

The Extension is intended for personal, non-commercial, and non-business use by individuals for their own purposes. This includes use for personal investment decisions, analysis, decision-making practice, research, or recordkeeping.

Use by corporations, organizations, or sole proprietorships in the course of business, use for customers or other third parties, and use in services that provide data to third parties are outside the intended scope.

Users are responsible for confirming and complying with the terms of use, rights, and restrictions established by data providers and other third parties for retrieved data.

The ability to use the Extension does not mean that retrieved data may be freely copied, published, sold, redistributed, or used commercially.

Article 4 Data Sources

To retrieve stock-price and related data, the Extension sends requests directly from the user's Chrome browser to Yahoo Finance data endpoints. Servers operated by Chart Playback are not used as a relay for data retrieval.

The operator has no partnership, cooperation, endorsement, or agency relationship with Yahoo, the providers of Yahoo Finance, or other data providers.

Changes in data-provider specifications, failures, access restrictions, discontinuation of service, or similar circumstances may make all or part of the Extension unavailable.

When using retrieved data, users are responsible for confirming and complying with the latest terms of use, rights, and restrictions established by data providers and other third parties.

Article 5 Accuracy of Data and Related Matters

The operator does not guarantee any of the following with respect to data obtainable through the Extension:

  • Accuracy
  • Completeness
  • Timeliness
  • Continued availability of retrieval
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • The absence of omissions, duplicates, or errors

Changes in data-provider specifications, failures, access restrictions, discontinuation of service, market closures, changes in symbol information, or other reasons may prevent data retrieval or result in data that differs from what was expected.

Users should compare data with other information sources as necessary before using it.

Article 6 Data Storage and Transmission

CSV files retrieved through the Extension are saved to the user's device through Chrome's download functionality according to the user's browser settings.

The Extension does not transmit or store the symbol code, date range, symbol name entered by the user, or retrieved CSV data on servers operated by Chart Playback.

However, to retrieve data, information corresponding to the symbol code, date range, and similar information specified by the user is transmitted directly from the user's Chrome browser to the data source.

Users are responsible for managing, backing up, deleting, and providing saved files to third parties.

Article 7 Prohibited Conduct

Users must not use the Extension to engage in any of the following:

  1. Conduct that violates laws or the terms of use of third parties
  2. Selling, redistributing, publicly transmitting, or publishing retrieved data without the necessary rights or permission
  3. Using the Extension as a commercial service, business service, or data-provision service for third parties
  4. Obtaining large volumes of data or making continuous data requests in a short period through automation or other methods
  5. Circumventing or attempting to circumvent access restrictions imposed by data providers
  6. Using the Extension to retrieve data on behalf of third parties in response to their requests
  7. Placing an excessive burden on the Extension or third-party services
  8. Using the Extension for illegal or improper purposes, or for purposes that infringe the rights of others
  9. Any other conduct that the operator considers inappropriate for providing the Extension

Article 8 User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for managing their environment for using the Extension, communication environment, browser settings, storage location, and retrieved data.

Before using data retrieved through the Extension, users must confirm the contents, applicable symbols, date range, and whether any data is missing.

Users are responsible for transactions, analysis, decisions, and other actions taken through use of the Extension or based on retrieved data.

Article 9 Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Extension is provided as it exists at the time of provision. The operator does not guarantee that the Extension will operate on all devices, operating systems, Chrome versions, communication environments, or future environments.

Users may suffer damage due to use of or inability to use the Extension, omissions, errors, delays, or failures to save retrieved or stored data, changes in data-provider or Chrome specifications, failures, discontinuation of service, or other circumstances related to the Extension.

If the operator is legally liable for damages in connection with the Extension and the operator's negligence is limited to ordinary negligence, the scope of compensation is limited to ordinary and direct damages actually incurred by the user. In such cases, the operator is not liable for special damages, indirect damages, lost profits, or other similar damages.

The limitation of liability in the preceding paragraph does not apply when damage is caused by the operator's intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or when limitation of liability is not permitted under applicable law.

Article 10 Changes to and Discontinuation of the Extension

The operator may change the functions, supported environments, data retrieval methods, or content of the Extension as necessary.

The operator may suspend all or part of the Extension without prior notice due to changes in data-provider or Chrome specifications, failures, discontinuation of service, security issues, or other circumstances.

The operator does not guarantee continued provision of the Extension.

Article 11 Changes to the Terms of Use

The operator may change these Terms of Use in response to changes in laws, the functions of the Extension, conditions of data providers, operating policies, or other necessary circumstances.

When making changes that materially affect users' rights or obligations, including changes to the scope of use, prohibited conduct, data storage or transmission, fees, whether account registration is required, disclaimers or limitations of liability, governing law, or court jurisdiction, the operator will update the Terms consent version, display the revised Terms of Use, and request explicit renewed consent from users.

If a user does not agree to a change that requires renewed consent, the user may not use the Extension after the change.

Corrections of typographical errors, consistency of wording, clarification of explanations that do not change meaning, updates to contact information or links, and updates to third-party license notices that do not materially affect users' rights or obligations may not require renewed consent.

For changes requiring renewed consent, a user's failure to take action or continued launching of the Extension alone will not be regarded as consent.

Article 12 Third-Party Services and Software

The Extension uses third-party services including Chrome and Yahoo Finance. Each service is subject to the terms and other conditions established by its provider.

If third-party software is included in the Extension, each software program is subject to its respective license terms. The names, copyright notices, and license terms of covered software will be made available in third-party license notices within the Extension or on the official website.

Article 13 Governing Law and Court Jurisdiction

Japanese law applies as the governing law to these Terms of Use and matters concerning the Extension.

Court jurisdiction for disputes concerning the Extension is governed by the Code of Civil Procedure and other applicable laws.

If other mandatory provisions apply by law, those provisions take precedence.
